Owner of In Dog We Trust
World Cynosport Rally Judge, Level 1 & 2

My training philosophy is simple. I want to have fun with my dogs. I believe that everything we need and want a dog to know can be taught with completely force-free training methods using techniques that are safe, effective and enjoyable for both the handler and the dog.

I grew up with dogs and enjoyed my father's hunting labs, but it wasn't until 1996 when I acquired my first Jack Russell Terrier and began training myself. After years of frustration with a challenging JRT, I discovered the world of positive reinforcement training. I began reading everything I could get my hands on, absorbing book and after book. My studies led me to institute training techniques that were truly enjoyable for both myself and my dogs and yielded the success I was seeking. I embraced clicker training and started to implement its theory in my day-to-day life with my own dogs and foster dogs.

I have attended many seminars in my quest for knowledge including ones with Dr. Patricia McConnell and Dr. Ian Dunbar. I also began studying with local trainers in the area. I am devoted to continuing education and enjoy implementing new and creative techniques and games that help owners develop a fun, engaging and rewarding relationship with their dog.

I compete regularly in World Cynosport Rally Obedience and JRTCA terrier trials, which include racing, barn hunt, go-to-ground and lure coursing. We are currently developing skills to participate in AKC Tracking, nose work, Dock Dogs & Rally-FrEe.

I am currently building hours teaching with plenty of self study in anticipation of taking the CCPDT certification test in order to earn my professional dog trainer certification (CPDT).

I am owned by six English Jack Russell Terriers and one rescued beagle mix, ranging in age from 14 years to 6 years. We love hiking, swimming, training with our friends & lounging on the couch cuddling.

Life is good!
